1. General information
The main objective of the Degree Final Project DFP) is to evaluate the set of competencies acquired by the students throughout the degree.
To this end, the student will undertake a work related to Biotechnology in which they will be able to contextualize, apply and integrate the knowledge and skills acquired, demonstrating their ability to interpret and discuss the results obtained and to transmit them in written, verbal and graphic form using efficiently the information competences without plagiarism.
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda of United Nations (https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/es/), so that the acquisition of learning results of the subject provides training and competence to contribute to a greater or lesser extent to the achievement of each of them.
2. Learning results

Acquisition of knowledge and skills related to the work performed, demonstrable before a board of examiners.

Preparation of a report of adequate scientific quality, both in terms of content and form, according to the following guidelines DFP Guidelines of the Degree in Biotechnology and the Regulations of the Faculty of Science.

Presentation and public defence of the work done before a board of examiners.
3. Syllabus
Completion of a paper related to Biotechnology supervised by one or two directors. The typology of the DFP may be:
1. Experimental work in the laboratory to obtain and interpret own results.
2. Study or project related to the biotechnology industry or related sectors in any of the aspects in which a biotechnologist is competent.
3.Theoretical work for the interpretation of results or understanding of phenomenologies related to Biotechnology
4.Original and critical bibliographic work based on the search for information in contrasted sources.
5. Any other type of work related to Biotechnology as approved by the Quality Assurance Committee.
4. Academic activities
The sum of the duration of the different activities of the DFP will be 225 hours, which will be distributed as follows:
- Consultation and review of bibliography. State of the art: 20-30 h
- Laboratory work or field work: 110-140 h
- Interpretation and discussion of results: 20-40 h
- Preparation of the report: 40-60 h
- Production of the presentation: 20-30 h
5. Assessment system
The works will be evaluated by board of examiners that will be constituted according to the guidelines of the Degree Final Projects of the Degree in Biotechnology.
The student will be able to defend the DFP provided that the number of credits that they still has to pass in order to obtain the degree is equal to or less than 12 ECTS (excluding the 9 of the DFP).
The board of examiners will use the rubric system approved by the Quality Assurance Committee of the Degree for the evaluation of the Report and the Oral Test, which can be consulted at: https://ciencias.unizar.es/trabajo-fin-de-grado-en-biotecnologia Assessment criteria:
- Report (60% of the final grade). Different formal and content aspects will be assessed, as well as the attention to ethical standards (plagiarism and citation)
- Presentation and defence (40% of the final grade). Presentation: the mastery of the subject, the structure, the clarity and quality of the graphic material and the adjustment to the time allotted it will be evaluated. Defence: will be assessed on the mastery of the subject and the quality of the answers to the questions posed by the board of examiners..
- The board of examiners will have as an additional element for the evaluation the assessment report presented by the directors and speaker, if applicable .
Fraud or total or partial plagiarism in any of the evaluation tests will result in the failure of the subject with the minimum grade, in addition to the disciplinary sanctions adopted by the Guarantee Commission for these cases.
